The aim of our Fitness for Duty Assessments and Evaluations is to support successful return to work, with a view to reducing the risk of longer-term complications and incapacity/disability. Dr Robin Chase, our Occupational Physician & IMC has extensive accreditation and a wealth of experience in providing fitness for duty assessments and managing return-to-work barriers. He is a former President of the Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AFOEM) and was the key principal in the development of the Health Benefits of Work Policy.

 

Having been in the field of Occupational Medicine for over 30 years, Dr Robin Chase is reputable Australia-wide and internationally: not only in occupational practice but also in academia. He has received various prestigious awards such as the Australian Defence Force Medal and the Smiley Medal from the Faculty of Occupational Medicine at the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.

Dr Chase has lectured on Occupational Health and Safety at numerous Australian universities and has even presented research at the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine, New York Institute of Technology and Europe Pacific Medicolegal.

At SOG, Dr Chase evaluates all work-related injuries that are of muscoloskeletal nature and conducts onsite workplace assessments to implement return-to-work programs. In addition to this, his capacity as an Injury Management Consultant (IMC) also allows him to determine fitness for work, where psychological illness is present.

Our experienced staff can assist with arranging for one of our many specialists, such as Dr Chase, to conduct FFD assessments/evaluations as well as worksite assessments – as required by particular industries, locations and injuries.
